Rehobeth Global Methodist Leadership
Rehobeth Global Methodist is blessed to have a leadership team who are truly dedicated to Christ and accomplishing His will. Following are brief bio's of our leadership team and their qualifications for ministry.
Linda Burnett
Church Secretary
Linda is the Church Secretary handling most administrative tasks and accounts payable. She also coordinates and mails out the Quarterly Newsletter. Contact Linda at 903-918-1181 or lindab2044@att.net.
Linda has been a member of Rehobeth since 1991. She and her two boys, who grew up in this church, found a loving and caring church family from the day they first visited. Throughout the years, Linda has held several positions in the church: SPRC Chairperson, Children’s Sunday School Teacher, and Communion Steward.
For the past 43 years, she has worked in the Oil and Gas Industry as an Administrative Coordinator. Her greatest blessing is spending time with her grandson, Nash.
Sonja Howard
Rehobeth GMC Spiritual Lay Leader
Sonja and her husband Alan, relocated to Carthage, in 2016. Four children, six grandchildren and their dog, Bella Blue keep them busy. In 2021 Alan and Sonja joined Rehobeth Methodist Church. Both have accepted active rolls within the church and enjoy volunteering to help the community. A few of Sonja's interests include painting, trying new recipes, and reading. Morning walks with Bella start her day with thoughts of God's infinite power and His magnificent creation.
Prayer and bible study have strengthened her personal relationship with God. The message and fellowship at Sunday service at Rehobeth have added a tremendous value to her walk of faith. One of her favorite Bible versus: Psalms 92:2 - "To declare Your lovingkindness in the morning, and Your faithfulness every night."
Stephen George
Pianist and Music Director
As a result of the Holy Spirit’s moving in his life, Stephen’s journey as a follower of Christ began at an early age. He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at the age of ten, and throughout his life, Stephen has always known of God’s love for him. His music ministry began in his teens, playing the piano and singing in worship services and at nursing homes for his home church in the Dallas area. Stephen has ministered at several churches in the Dallas area as a Pianist, Organist, and Music Director. In 2012 he moved to Panola County and began his next ministering journey in 2013 as the pianist and congregational music leader at Rehobeth United Methodist Church. In 2022, as a result of the church’s vote to affiliate with the Global Methodist Church, Stephen became a member of the renamed congregation now called Rehobeth Global Methodist Church. His love and care for this congregation knows no bounds and knows the people of Rehobeth to be people who desire to make disciples of Jesus Christ, worship passionately, love extravagantly, and witness boldly.
Stephen has many favorite biblical passages, but the one he loves the most is found in Micah 6:6-8, which says:
“With what shall I come before the Lord and bow down before the exalted God? Shall I come before Him with burnt offerings, with calves a year old? Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, with ten thousand rivers of oil? Shall I offer my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul? He has shown you, O mortal, what is good And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.” (NIV)
Rev. David L. Kennedy
Senior Pastor
Rev. David L. Kennedy was appointed to serve as Rehobeth Global Methodist 's Pastor July 1, 2018. Prior to that, he served as Pastor of Falvey Memorial United Methodist Church in Wells, Texas, Mim's Chapel United Methodist Church in Avenger, Texas, and Crossroads United Methodist Church in Elysian Fields, Texas.
The attributes that best describe Rev. Kennedy as a pastor are strong preaching, teaching, leadership development, music ministry, and counseling. He has expressed a burning desire to lead a church like Rehobeth Global Methodist where biblical views are embraced and encouraged, with members who care about the needs of those around them and who want to connect others to the body of Christ. Rev. Kennedy takes worship, preaching, and teaching, very seriously, spending the first hours of his day focused on Bible study.
He graduated from Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas, in 1980 with a B.S. degree in Animal Science. Did his Masters of Education work at Lamar Univeristy in the early 80's. After being called into full time ministry by the Lord in 2012, David completed his Seminary studies at Perkins School of Theology, at Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Texas. He is an ordained Deacon and Elder of the Global Methodist Church, currently through the East Texas GMC Conference.
David has been happily married for twenty-six years to his wife, Joy. They have four sons who God has blessed with eight (grand)children and two (great)grandchildren. David and Joy enjoy relaxing time traveling to see "the kids", fishing, golfing, and reading.
